Grassroot Soccer visits the Football for Hope Center in Khayelitsha, South Africa's fastest growing township on the outskirts of Cape Town, to highlight some of our young agents of change. These young people are educating, inspiring and mobilizing adolescents, peers, colleagues and community members to make educated choices about pressing health challenges such as HIV & AIDS, sexual health, and gender-based violence.
With support from our Global Ambassadors, UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé and U.S. National Women's Soccer Team Forward Christen Press, we are changing the game for adolescents in around the world and using the power of soccer to connect young people with the mentors, information and health services they need to thrive.
Grassroot Soccer (GRS) is an international adolescent health organization that empowers young people to overcome their greatest health challenges and live healthier, more productive lives. Grassroot Soccer's evidence-based programmes, led by trained local Coaches, incorporate soccer into dynamic lessons about health and wellness that engage young people and break down cultural barriers. With proven results and a constant focus on research and innovation, GRS has reached over 1.3 million young people in nearly 50 countries with adolescent-friendly health education.
