Some people are vegetarian, others put solar pannels on their roofs and others create as little waste as they can. I make videos: vlogs4change
*** Hi there, my name is Cheryl and I am a TCK: I grew up in several countries in West #Africa without being from the continent. When I moved to Europe at the age of 10 I vowed to come back and contribute to the continent's future. I do that through my work and my voluntary work and through this vlog. I consider myself a global citizen and an independent volunteer:
I use my knowledge of Africa, the #environment, my network and my skills to build bridges and facilitate the adoption of #innovative solutions. After years of working 'behind the scenes' I thought I might be able to help more people if I would work and communicate publicly. That's why I started this vlog. First under the name _Rural Web_ by _Geocherylvids_, now on a separate channel.
#Vlogs4Change is a vlog in the sense that it is based on things I do and people I meet. At large, it's about development cooperation, or Rural Development in Africa. A few topics get more focus as they have my personal interest: #water & water #quality, #waste management and #plastic #recycling.
The thing is that I work in the water sector as a #GIS and #Geodata specialist. But I was trained as a #geochemist and presently work on passive sampling and plastic recycling in #Senegal. And we cannot talk plastic without mentioning the Plastic Soup.
I'm also on the board of an NGO called Stichting Steun voor #Oudalan. We are providing improved access to water, agricultural produce and income to thousands of people in the North of #Burkina Faso.
With this initiative, I hope to promote exchange of knowledge among #development workers and other #change makers. I also hope to improve how well we know each other, understand each other and work together. I hope to inspire you all, to start your own vlogs4change and to communicate frequently and publicly about what you're doing and how things are going.
If you're interested in starting a #vlog as well, then check my other channel. That's where I teach tech.https://www.youtube.com/use...
