On New Year's Day 2017 I released a promotional video for my upcoming album, entitled "A Work In Progress... (Is The Art of Tactful Procrastination)". If you've known me for any length of time you'll know that for a decade now I've been carrying this album title along with me, so I'm excited to finally be moving forward with the whole process. As it happens, the longer this has gone on, the more the title actually makes sense, and the more fun I get to have with it. This video, in particular, was culled together from pieces of footage shot over the past year, entirely on my iPhone using a Super 8 filter to give it that kind of nostalgic, long time ago feel. I haven't decided yet if that's a style I'll be keeping with on the new album, but for this I liked it. This style, and the whole inspiration for the video to be done at all came from a teaser video that U2 did for POP back in 1996.
Speaking of, the five song clips you hear on this video are taken from demos that I originally started working on in Fall 2014 (and that, because of all manner of other projects that have come up between then and now, I was never able to fully finish), so they are by no means a finished product, and it's even possible that what you're hearing could change drastically by the time the album is released in 2017. There's a lot of work to do with it. Right now I have about 12 or so demos I've been playing with, with the intention to end up with 12 finished songs. I know for a fact at least 7 of the ones I'm working on right now will be on there, but we'll see what happens with the others. Usually you start with something closer to 20 and whittle it down to the final product.
