M. Scott Peck – People of the Lie – DJP

I read "The Road Less Travelled" (1978) when I was 19 and since then have been on a conscious spiritual path most of the time. No writer has changed my life as much as M. Scott Peck.

I am much more interested in human evil as a psychology before demonic evil as I believe the former is much easier to analyse and both types are maybe often not connected.

I could envisage human evil becoming classified as a mental illness.

The issue of demonic evil is much more mysterious and may remain a spiritual subject and I believe may possibly never enter the field of mainstream clinical pyschology.

Scott proposed in "People of the Lie: The Hope for Healing Human Evil" (1983) that the illness human evil should be classified as a distinct subtype of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD).

I believe that this condition could have a new name, if desirable, instead of the traditional, archaic "human evil" name.

I would not recommend reading "People of the Lie" if you are not an adult.
