COIL courses provide a unique opportunity for CCC students that promote cross-cultural awareness. Classes have a blended format with traditional face-to-face sessions taking place separately at CCC and the partnering, international institution, while collaborative student work takes place online.
COIL started as a SUNY professor’s grassroots initiative and has grown into a SUNY-wide initiative and one of the leading organizations to provide innovative and cost-effective internationalization of curricula. CCC was one of the early participants in COIL. From the beginning, the administration and faculty recognized the importance of COIL’s goals to “internationalize curricula, build global partnerships, and help prepare globally competent students equipped for work and civic engagement in a global context” (http://coil.suny.edu/page/a...).
"50 Years, 50 Faces" is the story of Corning Community College - as of its 50th anniversary in 2007 - told by the people who know it best: its faculty and staff, both past and present. Personal interviews were interwoven with archival photographs from CCC's first fifty years to showcase the institution's journey from humble beginnings to a multi-faceted 21st Century institution of higher education. "50 Years, 50 Faces" brings to life the past, reflects on the present, and contemplates the future of Corning Community College.
