HKKS

The Norwegian percussionist and cimbalist Hans-Kristian Kjos Sørensen is one of few percussion soloists who can enjoy an international career. HKKS has released improvised and notated music in jazz, baroque and classical genres for Ultron, ECM, BIS and Deutsche Grammophon. He won the Norwegian Grammy Spellemannsprisen for his solo CD Open. Sørensen has been a soloist with all the major Norwegian orchestras and international orchestras such as the London Philharmonia, Paris Chamber Orchestra, and ORF Vienna Radio Symphony. As a keen chamber musician, he has for more than three decades visited the major festivals in Norway and Europe. HKKS studied in Oslo, Banff Canada and Versailles, France, and he has numerous prizes, including in CIEM, Geneva. HKKS is the recipient of the artistic state grant of Norway.
