The Cigna Foundation has awarded a $125,000 World of Difference grant to the Diabetes Awareness and Wellness Network (DAWN) to provide education and support for Houstonians diagnosed with, or at risk for diabetes. With the grant, DAWN will expand support for people with diabetes, including increasing evening and weekend hours, offering mobile services and developing materials focused on healthy eating and active living.
“Many people with diabetes in our community aren’t sure where to go for help,” said Faith Foreman, PhD, PH, MPH, LVN, assistant director for the Houston Department of Health & Human Services. "By coming to DAWN, people can get the support they need in one place.”
In 2014 the Cigna Foundation created the World of Difference grants to support to nonprofit organizations working to improve women’s health, children’s wellness, senior care and health equity. www.cigna.com
