Fatal Distractions is a story is based around a real fatal traffic collision.
This powerful film tells of the death of Ron Birch,who was killed on his way home to Telford to celebrate his 58th birthday with family and friends. His transit van was hit by a loaded cattle wagon on the A51 near Tarporley driven by a man whose driving was impaired by drugs.
The film includes a mock trial with Judge Elgan Edwards, the Recorder of Chester, held at Chester Crown Court.
Sixth form students from Bishop Heber, Bishop Bluecoat and Queens Park High spent the day learning how the criminal justice system operates, the roles of different agencies and the consequences of impaired driving.
Fatal Distractions is available on DVD has been designed to be used by teachers to explore the consequences of irresponsible driving and includes a lesson plan which allows students to discuss how such collisions can be prevented.
