Today I'm silver brazing a seat stay bridge, cable guides, cable stops, and water bottle bosses (a.k.a. braze-ons) onto my mountain bike frame—and taking you along for the ride!
I show a lot of the brazing up close, sharing tips about what to watch for to make sure you don't cook the joints and burn up the flux. I also share my thoughts about where I'm placing the braze-ons on the bike and why. At the end I discuss some tips for cleaning the flux off the frame.
This video does cover some of my overall equipment choices when silver brazing and my setup. However, for a full overview of my brazing setup for bicycle framebuilding, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/wat......
Tube bending for custom bicycle framebuilding requires different considerations from tube bending in general. The bicycle tubing is thin, and the aesthetics of the bends need to be on point. Here's a collection of videos where I discuss tube bending for bike framebuilders specifically.
The majority of bicycle framebuilders are working in small shop spaces: basements, garages, etc. My current shop is 400 sq ft, and my first shop was only 200 sq ft. This playlist is for sharing the tips and strategies I've learned over the years for getting the most out of a small shop.
