Center for Ethical Leadership

The Center for Ethical Leadership (CEL) was founded in 1990 to be a “catalyst for creating a just society.” Our work is grounded through research focused on how people put their passion for social justice in action. From these stories our approach and practices to lead for the good of all was formed. We cultivate leaders who use values, vision, and courage to critique what needed to be critiqued and imagine what needed to be imagined AND do what needs to be done in service of the common good. 

The Center for Ethical Leadership sees the common good as the preferred future. The common good is a state of existence where resources are stewarded justly for the good of all. We define ethical leadership as: knowing your core values and having the courage to act on them on behalf of the common good. 

Our mission is to cultivate leadership and build capacity for change, helping community tap collective wisdom in service of the common good.
