Video update on next writing project—a book looking at the question "as we knew better about human sexuality, did we do better with Bible translations on verses referring to same-sex behavior?"
Starting with investigations as to why the translation team for the 1946 RSV used the word "homosexual" in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 for the first time in any translation, any Bible, I'll follow subsequent translations against a backdrop of the progress of unfolding knowledge about human sexuality and gender.
Watch this short video from the University of Nevada Reno Archives. I am going through the 22 reels of Dean Luther Weigle's personal archived notes from Yale University. Dr. Weigle was the head of the RSV translation team.
