State Troopers and police officers are at risk every time they pull over a vehicle. In the winter, the shoulders of roads are often crowded with plowed snow, giving officers even less room, increasing the risk of being hit by motorists.
Alaska State law requires drivers to move over or slow down to a reasonable and prudent speed when passing emergency vehicles displaying flashing lights on the side of a road.
If you ignore this law, you could face fines, penalties and possibly criminal prosecution.
Protect our first responders. Move over. Slow down.
