  • Spilling with Luke James: A Conversation with the New Orleans Native

    2,665 views 3 years ago
Born and bred in New Orleans, singer/songwriter Luke James kicked off his musical career singing backup for R&B singer Tyrese then later writing songs for some of your faves: Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Keri Hilson, and Britney Spears, just to name a few. He's had a nice run within the past couple of years: In 2012, he was nominated for Best R&B Artist at the Soul Train Music Awards; In 2013, Queen Bey herself chose Luke to be the opening act for The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour; And in 2014, he was nominated for Best R&B Performance for “I Want You” at the Grammy Awards.

Not only was this Luke’s first time performing in his hometown since his debut album, Luke James, dropped (a week earlier), but it was also his first time performing in his hometown as a headliner. During the conversation, Luke talks about his growth, passion and why performing in New Orleans means so much more than performing anywhere else. We also talk about the honesty in his music -- how each song is about real life experiences, and what's next from the book of Luke...

Special thanks to House of Blues New Orleans, Luke James, and Lauren Youngblood aka LNichelle. And a super über special thanks to my team: Metro Dog Media, Seidist, and Mariel Elaine. Show less
