Andrián Pertout was born in Santiago, Chile, and in 2007 completed a PhD degree at the University of Melbourne. Composition awards include the Friends & Enemies of New Music Composition Prize (USA), International Music Prize for Excellence in Composition (Greece), Betty Amsden Award, Louisville Orchestra Prize (USA), and the Oare String Orchestra Judges' and Audience Prize (UK).
