Our drive took us from Accra Ghana via Eastern region of Ghana, passing along Asante region ( Ashanti ) with Asante ( Ashanti s ) capital Kumasi.
From there we continued through the Asante region to Sunyani and further on to Gonokrom.
There at the border of Ghana and Ivory coast, we continued to the Ivory coast s north eastern town of Agnibilekrou.
Thereon we went south, passing through the fruit basket of the Ivory coast, finally reaching the major city of Yammoussoukrou.
From Yammoussoukrou the road branches to Daloa and Man, close to borders of Sierra Leone and Liberia, and finally to the border of Guinea. A hard stretch of road spanning 40 km took us 8 hours to cross, with deep rainforest, heavy torrents or rain accompanying us.
After a night in the rainforest, with dangerous roads reaching from the east to west Ivory coast we entered Guinea border the next morning.
A thousand miles of rainforest lay ahead of us, from the south of Guinea to the North. Dangerous roads were everywhere with armed bandits and thugs as well as notorious officials trying to rip us off.
Three weeks on the road, we finally reached North Guinea, Crossing in Mali on land route, through the bush we reached Niani.
Many episodes and dangerous paths were encountered along the route.
Ebola country is real. In the south of Guinea when passing Mount Nimba, a chimpanzee game reserve, we became aware of the notorious habit of consuming wild game meat.
The Ebola virus is spread by the indiscriminate usage of hunting.
