Al Laws Jr.

For over twenty (20) years, Mr. Laws provided leadership that establishes WIN as a thriving child placement and mental health service agency. WIN offers treatment foster care and mental health counseling services to youth, adults and families throughout Maryland. WIN currently has offices in Baltimore, Cecil County and Lanham, Maryland, employs over 200 dedicated staff, and serves hundreds each year. WIN’s Family Strengthening Practice Model is a holistic, strength-based model that teaches specific skill sets for resolving issues that hinder healthy relationships. Family Strengthening supports families and help professionals identify skills that emphasize joining strengths, showing understanding, and reflecting the good intentions in all behavior as a more meaningful and non-injurious way of communicating and resolving conflict. Currently Morgan State University and the University of Maryland as an evidence-based practice are researching the model.
