World AIDS Day is held on December 1st each year. It raises awareness across the world and in the community about the issues surrounding HIV and AIDS. It’s about remembering, honoring, respecting and uniting people.
HIV is one of the most destructive diseases humankind has ever faced and brings with it profound social, economic and public health consequences.
HIV continues to be one of the world’s most serious health and development challenges and equally remains a major health issue here in Australia.
Stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV or AIDS continues to be one of the greatest barriers in ending the epidemic.
The global World AIDS Day theme for 2015 is: Getting to Zero: Zero new HIV infections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS related deaths.
