Celebrating Season 3 of the award winning series "Lilyhammer" Stevie Van Zandt is releasing a 50-track, 3-volume digital box set entitled- "Lilyhammer: The Score."
Van Zandt was not only Lilyhammer's music supervisor, he scored part of the first season (the Theme Song and the fiddle cues) and all of seasons two and three of the series. Complementing the show's status as the world's only truly international show (Season Three has five languages spoken and filmed in four countries) the style of the show the score is a celebration of international diversity, ranging from New York Jazz to Norwegian Folk, and from Rock and Roll to Samba and Salsa.
"These albums are pretty much the only music I've created over the last four years and I'm quite proud of it," Van Zandt reported, " The totally unique international nature of Lilyhammer allowed a musically diverse scoring opportunity that could not have occurred anywhere else," he continued, "But in the show you'll get 15 seconds here, 30 seconds there, and almost always behind dialogue, these incredible Norwegian and American musicians deserve to be heard uninterrupted, so we're putting it out." While most of the 50 tracks are instrumental music "cues" used as beds under the scenes, there are four vocals by Van Zandt, three done as tributes to character Frank "The Fixer" Tagliano's (Van Zandt) heroes Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, and the fourth a Julio Iglesias-style love ballad that will be heard for the first time. The first single, "Frank Tagliano Sings! My Kind Of Town," recently made even more legendary by Bruce Springsteen having Frank Tagilano open his European Tour with it, was released last week.
