As roughly 2.5 million service members transition out of the military, readjusting to civilian life can present significant stress.
For many veterans, the transition is filled with complicated and confusing challenges. Some feel isolated and alone. Some struggle to find or hold a job. Many say they feel like they just don’t fit in. Finding and connecting with the right support and services can be overwhelming.
And that’s a challenge for all of us.
Many veterans have inspiring stories to tell. With a little inspiration and the right support, many others can find success, too.
American Graduate: Let's Make it Happen The American Graduate Initiative, made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), includes more than 75 public media stations in key locations working with students, parents, teachers, mentors, volunteers and business leaders to help students stay on track to graduate. This extensive effort reaches 33 states as well as Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. Through American Graduate, WHRO is empowering individuals at the community level by increasing local reporting, convening diverse local stakeholders, and providing access to free resources for teachers and parents. By working together and remaining vigilant, we are increasing the footprint of progress.
