On January 22, 2017, several bands of severe weather and strong thunderstorms with damaging winds of up to 70 mph moved across the region from the Mississippi, Alabama and Florida coasts north to hundreds of miles inland.
At the height of the impacts locally, the City of Tallahassee had an estimated 30,000 customers without power and multiple roads blocked. Crews immediately began working through the day and night to restore power and clear roads.
To these hard working men and women, from the electric linemen to the road clearing crews (and many other working behind the scenes), we say thank you for your dedication and commitment to the residents of Tallahassee.
