"Kyrie eleison" from Beethoven's great MASS IN C is sung during the Sprinkling Rite following the opening of our Holy Door for the Jubilee of Mercy. Mezzo Soprano Aubrey Nelson is featured in "O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion" from Handel's MESSIAH, in addition to works by Elizabeth Poston, Vladimir Vavilov, and our annual singing of Andrew Carter's glorious 3-part descant for VENI EMMANUEL
The Kyrie and Agnus Dei of Jean Langlais' "Missa Salve Regina" are mystically wed to Stanford's Evening Canticles in C for direct and refracted views of Marion theology on this Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the official "Farewell Mass" of Director of Music and Liturgy Mark Husey. Members of the Gallery Choir and Capella Pueri are joined by Capella Alumni from the class of 2015, ably assisted by Mary Alice Thomy Bogue, also featured as soprano soloist.
Michael Olbash's brief but brilliant "Sanctus" from his English Congregational Ordinary "Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Star of the Sea" is introduced into our YouTube repertory, joining re-recorded music of Gerald Near, Christopher Steel, and Paul Manz, along with Willcock's thrilling descant on HELMSLEY with a Saint-Saëns soundbite.
Featuring Tess Hartis (violin soloist), Esther Kim Ruder (soprano) Aubrey Nelson (mezzo) and James Gatch (tenor), joined by Robin Matlock Goffena, Joseph Myers, Josh, Evelyn, and Jon Fitz, and James Thompson. Choral Scholars and two 6th grade senior boy choristers sing Parsons' "Ave Maria." Newly recorded hymn tunes HANOVER and BLAENWERN complete Mark Husey's tenth and final Solemnity of All Saints as Organist and Choirmaster at Saint Peter's Catholic Church.
