Vincent Dance Theatre's Artistic Director Charlotte Vincent introduces Virgin Territory Workshops. The early workshops formed part of her research for VIRGIN TERRITORY. Participants talk about their experience of engaging in the tasks and how it made them think and feel.
VIRGIN TERRITORY WORKSHOPS continue to be available for schools and community groups. We offer a safe creative environment for young people to have meaningful conversations about over sexualisation and digital culture.
With Vincent Dance Theatre’s trademark black humour, VIRGIN TERRITORY takes an uncompromising look at what its like for young people to live in an over-stimulating, over-sexualised, digitally captured world. Four adults and four children negotiate some uncomfortable truths about the culture we live in, where bodies are exposed, identities are faked and our deepest truths remain hidden.
Heartbreaking in its honesty and brave in its intent, VIRGIN TERRITORY is a hopeful, rallying cry from the ‘astonishingly original’ Vincent Dance Theatre (New York Times) to just let our kids be kids.
VIRGIN TERRITORY premieres live exclusively at The Place, London 2-5 November 2016 .
The work will be distributed / toured as a participatory digital installation in venues across the UK and abroad from February 2017 onwards. Watch our CALENDAR for details.
This new production is for adult audiences and the young people (14+) in their lives.
‘One of the most important feminist artists working in Britain today. Contemporary dance fans should beat a path to her door.’ The Observer, 2015
