A Comic Opera by Yoav Gal
"...the music...illustrates the humorous fairy tale quality of the story by giving its harmonies a sardonic twist..." —Anne Midgette, The New York Times
We are proud to be mounting a new production of Yoav Gal's quirky first opera, The Dwarf, which we premiered in 2003. The Dwarf tells of the Lady Katherina Kaiser and the attention she arouses by wearing an unfashionably capacious dress. What...or whom...is she concealing under there?
This brand new production will be directed by the madly creative Doug Fitch, who recently turned Avery Fischer Hall on its head for two collaborations with the New York Philharmonic: Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre and Janacek's The Cunning Little Vixen.
Performances are planned for November 2013, in an urban location somewhere TBA. Please join the mailing list or check back here for news!
