The Embassy Facebook page has recently reached 30,000 fans! Thank you, we really appreciate your support, your engagement, and your feedback.
To celebrate this important milestone, we invite our Facebook fans to participate in a contest.
“I am Colleen Bell, the United States Ambassador to Hungary. I would like to thank everyone in Hungary who has offered an incredibly warm welcome to my family and me. We are enjoying getting to know Hungary better, and we’d like your help.
To celebrate our Embassy Facebook page reaching 30,000 fans, we are announcing a contest. Some of you may know, when I met with President Barack Obama before coming out to begin my service as Ambassador, I told the President that I would be the U.S. Ambassador to Hungary who got out to places in Hungary that no U.S. Ambassador had ever had the opportunity to see.
I would like our Facebook fans to help me with this. Tell me: what do you think I should see, to help me better understand the richness and diversity of your country, to understand your history and your present challenges, hopes, and aspirations? Is it a historic monument that I should see? A culinary specialty I need to try? A cultural event or experience that is “truly Hungarian”? A place of natural beauty that is off the beaten path?
Your suggestions can be funny, or serious, or intriguing, or inspiring- or all of the above- but I want to hear from you. I won't be able to take everyone up on their suggestions, but I would love to hear your ideas.
Send us your suggestions - in English or Hungarian - through our Facebook page. Rules for the contest can also be found on the website.
I’m looking forward to hearing your suggestions, and hopefully, to meeting some of you. We’ll post updates, as I get out to try some of your suggestions. Koszonom szepen!"
