Engineering consulting leader BBA relies on To-Increase Construction Solution and ERP from Avanade to run its global business with unprecedented efficiency and consistency across all operations. --------------------------------------------- Global Engineering Company Speedily Consolidates Operations on Single Software System
By incorporating To-Increase technology and expertise into BBA's newly integrated ERP environment, the company shortens the route from deployment to successful production, and achieves readiness for continuing growth that much sooner. Technology partner Avanade manages the implementation of the To-Increase Construction Solutions in integration with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 for BBA.
BBA, the engineering consulting enterprise, supports clients across the globe with consulting engagements, management of complex projects, design and delivery, and other services. The company's activities span many industry sectors, including energy, mining, civil, mechanical, automation, industrial data processing, and construction management. To manage its business, BBA relied on several disparate software systems, including an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with significant customizations and additions. Upgrading that system always involved work-intensive, costly updates to all the capabilities BBA had added to it. Because business data resided in a variety of sources, managers and decision-makers found it difficult, for example, to assess opportunities in the sales pipeline, focus marketing effectively, and ensure proper staffing for projects across many disciplines. Éric Gemme, Chief Financial Officer at BBA, says, "We saw that we needed a single resource that we could rely on to manage all business operations and provide us with complete information about BBA's complex activities."
BBA consulted with Gartner to receive recommendations for ERP software systems available on market. Finalists in the company's evaluation included Microsoft AX. "We realized that it will be easier to customize the Microsoft AX platform vs the other products, and wouldn't always be dependent on a vendor," says Christian Hétu, Implementation Finance Lead and IT Analyst at BBA. "However, with Microsoft Dynamics AX, we have a development platform that we can take in any direction we want to go. Also, instead of building a lot of needed capabilities ourselves, we chose the To-Increase Construction Solution, which already contains most of what we require. What's more, we quickly realized that To-Increase understands our business very well and knows the most effective and fastest ways to adapt the software to our needs and goals."
When the implementation of the To-Increase Construction Solution and Microsoft Dynamics AX will be completed, BBA will gain a single system for all business activities and data. In that new infrastructure, consistent, fast-moving workflows ease project management. From sales on to proposals and on to project delivery, efficiency and discipline ensure the financial soundness of BBA operations. An invoicing tool created by BBA, in integration with the To-Increase solution and the ERP system, assists project and finance managers in performing timely, accurate invoicing. Business managers can use powerful insight and planning capabilities regarding finance, operations, resource management, sales, and other aspects of the operation, through a single set of tools.
"With To-Increase, we waste no time in implementing a reliable system that meets our needs and satisfies our engineers, who have no tolerance for software flaws," says Hétu. "Also, the To-Increase team is great to work with." Gemme adds, "By enabling us to consolidate and manage all of our disciplines and activities in a single software environment, To-Increase helps us to be ready and efficient for the next stage of growth."
