John Agard, renowned poet and Patron of Tilt, casts a contemporary poetry gaze on a traditional 'british' pastime with his piece 'Put The Kettle On'. Agard demonstrates his love of words and appreciation of Trinidad's 'limin' culture through this piece. When young, he loved to listen to cricket commentary on the radio and he states that he began making up his own ripostes and phrases, which led to a love of language and the writing of poems and later books and plays.
