Hi everyone here you can see the red and blonde Hungarian Mangalitsa sows with their piglets in the quarantine stable here in the Netherlands. These piglets will be the future mums and dads in the US and they will make sure that the Mangalitsa will have a healthy and stable base to breed with them in the future.....
They will be selected in some days (13-8-2014) by Péter Tóth the Hungarian Mangalica President and Wilhelm Kohl owner of Pure Mangalitsa in Michigan. He is the one who tried 2 years to get permission to bring original Hungarian life stock to the States. And after many hours of hard work he succeeded and got in Feb the permission of the Hungarian Authority's to import them to his Farm in the States!
The problem is that the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) does not allow Hungary to export pigs to America. So there must be a other way to bring the animals to the States.......
Because of Facebook the world is getting connected in some wonderful ways ;-)...Wilhelm found me on Facebook and asked me if I would help the American's and the Hungarian's to get this unique export done.
SURE I love this breed and what is more beautiful to give this awesome old Royal breed a healthy and stable future in America!!
So 7 weeks ago 8 pregnant sows (4 blonde & 4 reds) came with a special transport from Hungary to the countryside of the Netherlands, the Veluwe to give birth to the future American Mangalitsa's! Without our small tiny country called the Netherlands no Mangalica for big brother America ;-)....Funny how history sometimes has its own passes!
And its a historical moment for sure. Never ever in the Mangalica history a original Hungarian Mangalica with pedigrees was allowed to leave Hungary to breed with... so this is really a exciting time where we live in when it comes to the Mangalitsa Breed!
Okey have fun with watching and when you are interested in original Hungarian Mangalica breeding material you can email to: email@example.com
