The Institute for Intellectual Formation and Skeptical Inquiry

The Institute for Intellectual Formation and Skeptical Inquiry is a privately funded resource for publicly accessible religious education. Why intellectual formation? In Rom. 12:2, the apostle Paul writes, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." Col. 3:1-2 reads, "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." When asked, "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment." (Matt. 22:37-39). Such passages enjoin the church to practice discipleship of the mind. Christians are to pursue spiritual growth through the intellectual life.
