These are excerpts, in consecutive order, from an emergency meeting called by the Franklin County, Florida Board of County Commissioners on on September 6th, 2012. The meeting was called to discuss with managing officials the extremely compromised conditions of the Apalachicola Bay shellfish harvesting area. At the opening of the winter oyster season, harvesters found very low harvest production amounts on the winter bars, areas which had not been worked since last winter. A lengthy report was presented at this meeting by Mr. Mark Berrigan of the Florida DACS Division of Aquaculture, and also a brief report from Jim Estes of Florida Fish and Wildlife. They also answered a few of the questions posed by County Commissioners and the public, but unfortunately, a complete understanding of the causes of this harvest depletion event has yet to be conclusively determined. Public Comment was also taken and will be included in another Playlist called Part 2.
