The idea that there is a ‘spine’ to our continent is an Indigenous concept as old as living memory. Backbone, a contemporary Indigenous dance creation, is inspired by the rocky mountainous spine of the Americas, and performed by dancers from Canada, the United States, New Zealand and Mongolia. Watch them perform powerful, stripped-down moments from the production.
"Backbone" is co-produced by The Banff Centre and Red Sky Performance. Original commission by The Banff Centre.
Feature-length conversations with artists and thinkers at The Banff Centre, recorded live before a studio audience. You can also download podcast editions of many of these Talks as podcasts on iTunes or our website.
