Welcome to the pub, welcome to my world! I am Side Quest Publications, and this is my channel.
For those of you who knew me back when I first joined YouTube, you've surely noticed a few changes in how I use the site.
Those who are new to my channel, please, pull up a chair and let me tell you a tale.
Now, when I first joined YouTube, I did it with one purpose in mind: watching and subscribing to other videos. I never dreamed of making my own, because I never imagined making a video worth watching. I'm a writer, not a performer, and making my own videos just didn't occur to me at the time.
But over the years, I got it into my head to give gaming videos a try. Some commentary, a few tips when I found something interesting, and quite a bit of random blather about my personal playing style.
Then I got a camera for my motorcycle, and added riding videos to the mix.
Eventually I started adding random videos that didn't fit any category, and, just like my main website, Twitter, tumblr, and... probably any other social media I've played around with, this channel became a jumble, a little content about a lot of topics.
Some change was definitely in order.
The motorcycle and gaming videos have largely been moved to their own channels.
Sure, I've kept a few on here, like when I first started learning to record my gameplay or was troubleshooting something, but the other two channels exist only for the thematically appropriate videos.
As for this channel, it still covers a wide variety of topics.
I have the troubleshooting videos, of course. These ones don't solve problems so much as help describe what those problems are. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, and these videos show what something is doing--or not doing, as the case may be--to supplement whatever description I'd want to write. I hope to provide real solutions, too, but that depends either on me figuring out what those solutions are, or finding a working solution that someone else has provided.
There are an assortment of unboxing videos--Loot Crate, Indiebox, and random other things I felt like recording.
I'll also have a few product reviews. I don't know how many of these I'll do; most of my reviews are the written-down type. But there's that saying again, and for some products, a video can be a much more appropriate format.
I may start book reviews, if I can figure out how to do a good video without spoilering too much.
And obviously, I've got the random videos and the subscriptions to other channels.
So have a look around, check out the playlists of my videos and some few that I've subscribed to... and if you happen to like any of my videos, please toss a like or a subscription my way.
Thank you much. :)
