This is the first track from Jean-Michel Jarre's 1997 album, "Oxygène 7-13", the follow-up album to his breakthrough hit "Oxygène". In this sequel album, Jarre uses many of the same synthesizers from the original plus some new ones to create music similar to his magnum opus while at the same time integrating them with compositional techniques from his later works.
The video itself consists of footage taken from the 1976 NASA documentary "Universe". This film, directed by Lester Novros and narrated by none other than Capt. James T. Kirk himself, William Shatner, features spectacular animations depicting various cosmological phenomena and was nominated an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short. Unfortunately, the user who uploaded the source video (The Digital Implosion) haphazardly cut out large chunks of the film, resulting in some of the film's best animations being left out. Hopefully, this does not detract from the quality of my video. Apologies - and thanks - go to said user for providing me with the footage.
