At Strathcona Tweedsmuir School (STS), it’s our job to put opportunities in front of young people. Opportunities to help them to learn new things, and, just as importantly, to develop character and leadership qualities. Students have over 90 co-curricular choices to discover any one of their possible interests, talents and skills. We use the term “co-curricular” instead of “extra-curricular” as we believe learning that takes place outside the classroom is equally as valuable in growth and achievement. In this video, hear students describe how co-curriculars help them discover more about themselves and see possibilities for their futures – and how they love the chance to step out of their comfort zone in a safe environment, take risks and embrace new opportunities. At STS, we resist placing students in moulds such as athlete, artist or academic. Here, students say yes to countless possibilities and reach their full potential.
