Sustained Dialogue Institute

The Sustained Dialogue Institute was founded in 2002 to develop everyday leaders who engage differences as strengths to improve their campuses, workplaces, communities, and countries. The Sustained Dialogue Campus Network (SDCN), one of SDI's programs, engages more than 40 campuses in seven countries, 4,500 students, and 4,000 alumni annually. SDCN participants meet weekly to move towards results-oriented dialogue, build relationships around topics such as race, class, gender, and faith, and address pressing needs in their communities. The five-stage, dialogue-to-action model of Sustained Dialogue® is based on the work of SDI founder Dr. Harold Saunders, a key drafter of the Camp David Accords and the Arab-Israeli Peace Treaty, head of the Cold War Dialogues now known as the Dartmouth Conference, and a leader of Middle East shuttle diplomacy trips in the 1970s.
