As a tribute to the spirit of Jimi, I was inspired to try something more experimental. For my interpretation of "Are You Experienced" I arranged the song for an unusual electric guitar that has 13 harp strings and a buzz bridge that creates an exotic twangy sound. I utilized the 13 harp strings by fingerpicking melodies and atmospheric soundscapes to decorate around the lyrics and chord progression. I also wanted to showcase my playing style instead of copying Jimi note for note.
I also decided to use this guitar because in 1970 the Coral/Danelectro guitar company build the only lefty version of this instrument for Jimi. I never heard any recordings of Jimi using this guitar but I was always fantasized about the music he would've created with it!
