Official video for the single "War Hero" off the upcoming album from Rob Decoup, "Rays of Sun".

Although the song “War Hero” was originally written as a general anti-war song, I decided to dedicate the Video to Ukraine and their quest to break free from Russian military oppression.
Communism and the Soviet Union have fallen, but Russian imperialism has not.
Putin falls in line with generations of Russian tyrants oppressing their own domestic populations as well as neighboring countries including Finland, Poland, Hungary, Persia, Afghanistan, Georgia and now Ukraine.
When I flew to Kiev in February, i was excited to see first hand the demonstrations and the fight for freedom and self-determination. Ukrainians wanted to join the EU and live in a prosperous tomorrow, away from the claws of the Russian bear and second world standard of living.
Ukrainian director Genady Razbegaev shot the video in Kiev and drove back to his home town in Crimea. I flew back to New York confident that the Ukrainians would succeed in overthrowing the Yanukovich regime that took its orders from the Kremlin in Moscow. I felt honored to have seen them go to the streets and literally fight the government security forces and after a long struggle that started in November 2013 and ended in March 2014, they finally took control of their own fate and Putin’s puppet president Yanukovich fled Kiev towards Russia. The whole world raised their hands and cherished this victory of democracy and sovereignty. Finally Urkaine would be free. Right?
One man was intent on preventing that; Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine, starting in Crimea, and later eastern Ukraine.
As Genady was editing the video in March 2014, Russian troops invaded his town and annexed the Crimean peninsula into Russia. With his future uncertain and Russian soldiers looming around his house, he finished the editing of “War Hero”, and took the chance to document and expose one of Putin’s lies. In the beginning of the video there is a video footage of Putin claiming the troops in Crimea are “local self defense units” and at the end of the video a different footage where he contradicts himself saying “They were Russian troops”. So which one is it Vladi? I guess we have to decide for ourselves.
As I write this now in July 2014, Russian soldiers continue to terrorize eastern Ukraine while a full scale invasion of Ukraine is still imminent. “ - Rob Decoup Show less
