In Episode 1 of Frontline Fashion 3, host Cara G McIlroy gets to grips with the question 'what is sustainable fashion' and gets to know our Redress Design Award finalists who hail from all corners of the world. She finds out how they discovered their interest for sustainable design and their main focus areas as she explores their competition collections.
Frontline Fashion is a documentary series following talented emerging fashion designers - finalists of the world’s biggest sustainable fashion design competition, the Redress Design Award. Frontline Fashion 1 was released in September 2016.
In 2018, after seven highly successful cycles, the competition re-launched with a fresh new look and name change: Previously known as the EcoChic Design Award, the new Redress Design Award directly reflects the work of Redress itself and our overarching mission to reduce textile waste and ultimately fuel a circular system for fashion.
From abandoned umbrellas and jute bags to damaged yarns, industry bridal surplus and military uniforms, our finalists transformed a variety of textile waste into runway ready designs with fierce aesthetics, demonstrating the power of the circular economy, where nothing goes to waste. Redress is organising a variety of dynamic programmes which work to minimise the negative impacts of fashion, whilst promoting innovative new models and driving growth towards a more sustainable industry via the circular economy. Take a look at some of our highlights.
