Less than 3 weeks ago I was diagnosed during a routine health check to have a bowel cancer tumour. Within 2 weeks I was in hospital in Dublin, having the "huge" operation to remove it and part of me - yes my bottom really IS half the size! - and to have an internal rebuild and stoma bag fitted as the only option for recovery.
The cancer hasn't spread yet, and hopefully it's out and we can avoid chemo. I've been lucky, it's almost been unreal, a torrid shock and wholey unexpected. These clips are part of my personal journey, shared in hope it might help others in a similar situation to smile, to get check ups, even if you feel fine, and to less fear in your own tumour trip if and when you find yourself in a similar space...
