www.phoenixcontact.com/hazlocrelays We are using potato launchers to show how relays WITHOUT hazardous location approvals CAN cause an explosion vs. relays WITH hazardous location approvals that DO NOT allow an explosion.
Phoenix Contact has PLC Relays with hazardous location approvals. Our CID2 relays are UL/cUL listed as process control equipment, for use in North American hazardous locations.
We also have ATEX relays that are dual rated for both CID2 and certified through UL/DEMKO and comply with requirements that relate to the design of Category 3 equipment. These are available as SPDT and DPDT, in various voltages. When used correctly, these ATEX and Class I, Division 2 relays are incapable of causing ignition that could lead to a deadly explosion.
