Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra

The Philharmonic State Orchestra is Hamburg’s largest and oldest orchestra, looking back on many years of musical history. Great artists have worked with the Orchestra: Gustav Mahler, Sergej Prokofjew, Igor Stravinsky and Otto Klemperer. The American conductor Kent Nagano has been Hamburg General Music Director since 2015. Today, in addition to the Philharmonic Concerts in the Elbphilharmonie, the orchestra plays all opera and ballet evenings in the Hamburg State Opera.
