Established in 1945, the Portland Symphonic Choir has a long and rich legacy of bringing great choral masterworks to the Northwest. Singers selected for membership in this largely volunteer ensemble come from all over the Portland Metro area and from all walks of life. Under the baton of Artistic Director Steven Zopfi since 2003, the Choir has achieved a reputation of excellence and dedication through creating powerful, accessible choral experiences for all kinds of music enthusiasts— from the experienced musician to the brand new listener.

In addition to performing major works as the resident chorus for the Oregon Symphony, the Choir regularly commissions and premieres choral works by composers from the Northwest and across the US, including such notable artists as Jacob Avshalomov, Morten Lauridsen, Tomas Svoboda, and Bryan Johanson. Several recent concerts have celebrated American music and its rich history of song.
