Oscar Film Unit (OFU, pronounced "off-yew"), was the University of Surrey's film society from c.1955 to 2001. As well as operating the campus cinema, the society shot many films on 16mm and, in its later years, video. Towards the end of OFU's lifetime, 16mm prints of some of the earlier films were starting to deteriorate, so we converted some of them to video. In some cases, the footage has been damaged and most of the original soundtracks have sadly been lost. However, we hope you enjoy these small time capsules of student life.

Oscar Film Unit is not, and has never been, related to or affiliated with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), or the Academy Awards ("Oscars").
