The 2016 Dead River special release dates are here! With only 8 releases ALL season long, the Dead River offers thrilling whitewater at several different water release levels. Come in the spring and fall for the BIGGEST water at 6000 to 7000 CFS, and enjoy lower summer flows at 3500 to 5000 CFS with all the kick still in the big rapids. The Dead River is the east's most continuous white water run, located in western Maine and running through the small town of The Forks. Northern Outdoors pioneered commercial rafting on the Dead River in the 1970s, join us for a fantastic whitewater river trip in 2016 - with hot grilled cookout after each trip.
The trip builds in intensity with great warm-up rapids at the top, and culminates in the Class IV-IV+ Poplar Hill Falls at the end. The wilderness and scenery are outstanding, if you have time to look! The trip ends just 5 miles upstream of our Northern Outdoors Adventure Resort at The Forks Resort Center, home to the Kennebec River Brewery, a favorite stop on Maine's Beer Trail.
