New York Live Arts is a center of diverse artists devoted to body-based investigation that transcends barriers between and within communities led by world-renowned artist Bill T. Jones. We are a place that brings people together to explore common values through live gathering and performance reminding us of our humanity and elevating the human spirit.
A five-day festival exploring the continuing impact of James Baldwin, the prophetic author whose seminal works address intractable conversations at the intersection of class, race, sex and violence on the occasion of what would have been the writer's 90th year. Curated by celebrated non-fiction writer Lawrence Weschler, in collaboration with New York Live Arts Executive Artistic Director Bill T. Jones, the festival includes lectures, panels, performances and a full range of artistic responses.
