The Choir of New College Oxford was delighted to be invited by the Holy See, and the Cappella Musicale Pontificia Sistina, to the Vatican City at the end of June. On the evening of Saturday 27 June, we gave a joint concert with the Cappella Sistina in the Sistine Chapel; then, on the morning of Monday 29 June, we sang, with the Cappella Sistina, at the Papal Pallium Mass for the Solemnity of Ss. Peter & Paul, celebrated by His Holiness Pope Francis, in St. Peter's Basilica.
The New Men are the close harmony, a capella group made up of the Academical Clerks (Choral Scholars) of the Choir of New College Oxford. Our last disc, Take to the Sky, was released in 2011, and a new disc is planned for release in the academic year 2015-16.
In this series on choral music at Oxford, Oxford Today went behind the scenes of Oxford choirs to understand the scholarship, passion, and drive for excellence that underpins every note that is sung. Featuring contributions from New College Choir, and the Organist Emeritus, Edward Higginbottom.
