The Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano) was installed in July 2011 consolidating three former units from the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS): Electron Microscopy (LME), Scanning Tunneling and Atomic Force Microscopy (MTA) and Thin Films and Microfabrication (LMF).
Open to the academic and business communities, LNNano staff is a team of highly-qualified researchers and skilled technicians, operating sophisticated equipment and offering to the users a world class R&D environment.
A new unit leads R&D on advanced techniques for joining metals and another new laboratory is being set up for the preparation, processing and characterization of nanostructured materials.
LNNano core mission is frontier scientific research done in synergy with the exploitation and development of nanotechnologies to create new advanced functional materials required for sustainability. An emphasis is placed on the transformation of renewable resources into new products, through new processes and life cycles.
