The title of the album is based on a feeling I believe all artists experience. Whenever I'm working on music (or anything for that matter) I'm always trying to chase an idea I have in my head and present it in reality where it can be observed, quantified and appreciated, only to realise that my idea or vision is too extreme or disproportionate to my skill set, leaving me constantly in a state of abandoning my art at a point where it can be classed as 'complete I guess' and settle for mediocrity.
TLDR: Art is never finished, only abandoned. We all settle for mediocrity.
The Collaborative Endeavors is a series of tracks in which I collaborate with a number of artists. One will be released every week each with unique artwork.
This is a series Tom Cosm & I are doing for a group we started on Facebook called 'Producers' Show Off Corner'. The idea behind the group is that everyone screencasts themselves working on tracks (without talking, unlike a tutorial video) and shares it with the group.
In doing this we can see how everyones realtime workflow differs and also pick up lots of the little strange tricks people use whether it be a nice little shortcut, or just a faster way of doing something, or the way they approach a new section etc. So in a way it's like a new form of tutorial that's based on explaining something that's really not very explainable through words. How to be creative, keep a fast paced workflow and get tracks finished.
This will continue until the track is finished, so if you're interested in keeping up with how a track is written from start to finish, as well as see how an online collaboration is conducted then this is definitely for you :)
