Metro Vancouver sets policies for waste disposal. Member municipalities manage solid waste collection and recycling services for single family homes and the private sector also provides waste and recycling services. Metro Vancouver's waste disposal system includes 6 Transfer stations located across the region, a Waste-to-Energy Plant in Burnaby, the Vancouver Landfill (owned and operated by the City of Vancouver) and the Cache Creek Landfill.
