Children of incarcerated parents describe the impact of The Messages Project on their family relationships. They talk about how they feel having a parent in prison, and excerpts of recorded videos show the kinds of communications mothers and fathers share with their kids back home.
Videos in this playlist demonstrate the work done by The Messages Project, a nonprofit organization based in Norfolk, Virginia. Founded by CNN Hero Carolyn LeCroy, The Messages Project is focused on assisting children of incarcerated parents by enabling their parents to communicate with them via video messages.
The Messages Project was selected as a recipient of a grant from the 2013 Deep Run High School Marathon Dance (DRMD). Students in Virginia danced for 27 hours on March 15-16 to raise funds for local non-profits such as ours. The dance, now in its seventh year, has raised over one million dollars for charity. The grant we receive will allow us to buy new cameras for our program and pay for postage and DVD costs. For more information, visit http://www.marathondance.org
