Fire Station 203 is a voter-approved bond project planned to help meet the demand for emergency call volume in growth and enhance emergency response times. It replaces the original Fire Station 203, 1340 W. University Drive, built in 1957. The former fire station was inadequate to serve the needs of current fire operations due to its age, location and size.
• Fire Station 203 has approximately 12,000 square feet. The single story building was built on approximately 1.7 acres of land at 324 S. Alma School Road, north of Broadway Road.
• It includes three apparatus bays, eight dormitory rooms for firefighters, two dormitory rooms for captains, a fitness area, offices, a Fire/EMS training/community room and an onsite fuel station.
• Funding for the approximately $4 million construction project is from the public safety bonds approved by Mesa voters Nov. 5, 2013. The property was acquired for approximately $1.5 million with funds from general obligation bonds for public safety approved by Mesa voters Nov. 4, 2008.
